This Cannot Be Me

This Cannot Be Me is a compilation of forty-nine autobiographical and allegorical writings, written in the company of women. It is the product of love for story and language, created in gratitude for the words and feelings that emerge each week in the Writing Practice Group sessions.

Inspiration for these writings has been in the form of poetry and prose, which we have read together – Mary Oliver, Adrienne Rich, Pablo Neruda, Sharon Olds, Billy Collins, Barbara Kingsolver, Izumi Shikibu, Vladimir Nabokov, and countless others. We have also used a number of writing exercises, seeds gathered from each other, images and objects as jumping in points to write and develop our craft.
